Fishing Calendar

Due to the gulf stream, Southern Norway can boast all year round fishing depending on weather conditions. Many think that the whole of Norway is covered with a deep carpet of snow and ice whilst polar bears patrol the streets. Maybe further North, but certainly not here in the far South. Under is a list of what type of fishing one can expect during different months of the year.

January

June

The salmon season finally opens! The salmon are in lesser numbers but of a larger average size. Sea bass show a greater interest in biting. Trout fishing in the mountains starts. Pike fishing in lowland lakes. Trout fishing in lakes and rivers at higher levels. Lowland fishing in lakes and streams for trout. Sea fishing for all species from land or boat.

July

Salmon are becoming more and more is the rivers and sea trout start entering our rivers. The sea bass fishing is good now. The sea bass fishing is good now. Pike fishing in lowland lakes. Trout fishing in lakes and rivers at all levels. Sea fishing for all species from land or boat.

August

September

If the salmon season is prolonged, it’s now the rivers are at their fullest with fish, though a greater number of coloured fish. The sea bass fishing is still good. Trout fishing in the mountains starts coming to a close. Pike fishing in lowland lakes. October

Trout fishing at all levels starts coming to a close. Still a chance of catching a sea bass. Pike fishing in lowland lakes. Sea fishing for all species from land or boat.

November

Excellent fishing for sea trout, cod, pollack in the sea also other species. Arctic Char in lakes is also possible.

December
