There is free lake and river trout (Salmo trutta) fishing in Marnardal. There can also be found perch (Perca fluviatilis) upto 1.4kg (3lb) and arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) in some lakes. So there is now an excuse to take a trip in the beautiful Norwegian countryside! For more information, please click here.
I will be at the happy salmon day performing fly casting instruction of all ages, abilities with competitons and prizes. Not only that, but there will be many other attractions and good food!
Here is a the first part of Salmon Fishing guide in Mandalselva, Norway. It’s the 11th of May, I’m sitting on the river bank and there is just 21 days left until the 1st of June, Mandalselva’s salmon season opens. In the last few days I’ve seen, as well as many others, multiple fresh run salmon […]
During the winter after reading many an article about Tenkara and watching various youtube instructional videos, 2014 was going to be the year of Tenkara. I guess my inspiration being that on the top of my ‘bucket list’ of places to fish is Japan. Fishing the mountain streams in such a mystical and tradition inspired place, catching […]
The relatively short winter combined with a stabile and warm early spring, really has kept the sea at a good temperature for sea trout. Here in the South of Norway, we are seeing increasing amounts of larger than average sea trout being caught. But last sunday, it happened again. Whilst Bo Bergendal and his wife […]
Today I had a gorgeous day guiding two french families. Blessed with blue skies and brilliant easter sunshine, our trip went to Mandal’s drinking water, Møglandsvannet. A lake well known in these parts for having respectable average size of brown trout and natural surroundings. After a 10 min drive we arrived at the lake. A […]
A trip out to beautiful Lista (little Denmark as we call it) with top chef Kenneth Haugeland which resulted in fish. Extremely windy but we found an area with free rising sea trout hitting scuds. The purpose for the trip as well as catching fish, was to learn from Kenneth. As one of Norway’s best […]

Yesterday at 0800 an elated Kim Jarle Haugstad could officially announce a capture of a 18.7lb (9.5kg) Sea Trout (Salmo Trutta) whilst using a lure from the beach. Every year the South of Norway […]
PLEASE NOTE: At the time of writing this review (Feb 2014) I had no connection with ArcticSilver at all nor offers from them. In May 2014 I was offered the position of Team Member for ArcticSilver, which I accepted. Just so that there are no misunderstanding. (As of October 2015, I am no longer a […]
Rugged and dramatic Skjernøy or if you’re going to try and say it in english; Sharenoi. Norway’s most southerly inhabited island and if you ask me, one of the best sea trout spots in the whole of Southern Norway. Not only that, but such a beautifully natural place shaped by the Nordic elements. When people […]
